Banks' net income, NPLs climb in Sept

THE Philippine banking industry generated more net income as of September this year, according to figures issued by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), despite continuous provisioning for bad loans, which climbed throughout the period.

The industry's net profit was P168.21 billion at the end of September 2021, up 35.05 percent from P124.55 billion a year ago, preliminary figures released on Thursday, showed.
