WITH the onslaught of a global pandemic, where personal hygiene is as important as any health protocol to combat the deadly virus, the need for clean and accessible water has become more pronounced, especially in rural areas, according to Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), Administrator Guiling "Gene" Mamondiong in a recent online forum in celebration of Global Handwashing Day.
Hand washing, according to Mamondiong, is a key preventive measure against Covid-19. He went on to say that people should be aware of the need for handwashing on a regular basis, and that a campaign including local government units would be necessary to disseminate this information. "However, if there is no water, how can you accomplish this?" the LWUA leader said, referring to a scenario that many Filipinos face in the countryside.
