SC clears 2 fraternity members in hazing case

TWO members of the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity were cleared in the death of an 18-year-old college student in 2009 due to hazing.

In a decision penned by Justice Henri Jean Paul Inting, the court's Third Division reversed the Aug. 30 and Oct. 26, 2016 decision and resolution of the Court of Appeals (CA) that affirmed the Sept. 4, 2014 ruling of the Branch 20, Regional Trial Court (RTC), Imus, Cavite convicting Carlos Paulo Bartolome and Joel Bandalan of violating Section 4(a) of Republic Act 8049, or the Anti-Hazing Law of 1995.
