Duterte backs Ombudsman probe into Pharmally controversy

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte welcomed calls by the country's medical experts and former health secretaries for the Office of the Ombudsman to conduct its own investigation into the alleged anomalous transactions between a Chinese-based pharmaceutical firm and the government in the purchase of medical supplies for the treatment of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Duterte made the statement after the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) urged the Ombudsman to file the appropriate cases against all those involved in government's anomalous deals with Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp.
