If an elected public official filed for an elective position which is different from his current position, does it mean the automatic forfeiture of his current elected status? The reason for my question is because as a government employee, I learned that we cannot participate in partisan political activity. Hence, such filing of a certificate of candidacy for an elective post that is different from his current position appears to be contrary to such prohibition.

The answer to your question is no. For your guidance, it is true that the Constitution, specifically Section 2 (4) of Article IX- B thereof prohibits an employee or an officer in the civil service from engaging, directly or indirectly, in any electioneering or partisan political activities, viz:
