An ecstatic Janice de Belen announced on Instagram Monday that she was just named Best Actress at the 2021 International Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM Autumn) in New York, for her role in the short film "Sugat sa Dugo" ("Wounded Blood"). The Filipino entry, which was an official selection in the festival's short film category, likewise won the Independent Achievement Award for Producing.
Based on the official trailer, Sugat sa Dugo, is the story of young man who is soon to succumb to HIV/AIDS. Portrayed by newcomer Khai Flores, de Belen plays his absentee mother in the heavy drama.
