The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) expects an increase in port traffic with the recent upgrades of Lucena port and Makar Wharf, which are being readied to handle bigger vessels.
PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago said "Lucena port's new pier will boost traffic and address congestion. PPA is also upgrading the Port of General Santos, known as Makar Wharf's terminal, to handle containerized cargo, Panamax and post-Panamax vessels".
