Firearms seized amid Comelec weapons ban

COTABATO CTY: One low-powered and four high-powered firearms were seized this week by Philippine Army troops who were conducting security operations as part of the assistance given to the firearms gun ban as implemented by the Commission on Elections in Pikit, Cotabato, during the fifth day of the filing of certificates of candidacy (CoCs) on October 5.

Western Mindanao Command chief, Maj. Gen. Alfredo Rosario Jr., on Thursday said members of the 90th Infantry Battalion (IB) and 3rd Cavalry Company had noticed that two firearms were displayed in plain view at the back of a Toyota pickup (DAD 9596).
