EU helpless over energy price surge

BRDO CASTLE: European leaders are divided on how to respond to the record rise in energy prices with France and Spain calling on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) for bold EU-wide action while others urged patience.

With Europe's winter fast approaching, the cost of energy on the continent is shooting ever higher, putting pressure on national governments, some of which have implemented emergency measures.
