All 1,406 barangay (villages) included in the list of beneficiaries of the Barangay Development Program (BDP) in 2022 underwent a "stringent and rigorous validation process" before they were declared cleared of communist presence and influence, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said that contrary to the claims of Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas, the process of clearing and identifying the beneficiary barangay under the BDP follows a whole-of-nation approach involving the barangay residents, barangay and local government officials, national government agencies and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
