THE spread of Covid-19 is still the primary concern of the health sector, but this does not mean that major and minor operations have been placed on hold. Because of this, there is still a steady need for blood transfusions. However, it has become more difficult for donors to go to blood banks due to fear of infection from the virus.

Quezon City Fourth District Councilor Hero Bautista aims to address this issue with the deployment of the first mobile health trucks. More than just blood collection, the health trucks also provide free swab tests for residents, hitting two birds with one stone. The truck is manned by one doctor and two nurses, and during its first rounds in San Vicente and San Isidro Galas barangay (villages), over 200 people donated blood and had themselves swabbed for Covid-19.
