ICC has no jurisdiction over PH, Palace insists

Malacañang on Thursday maintained that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has no jurisdiction over the Philippines after the tribunal authorized an investigation into the killings in the country's war on illegal drugs.

'Our position concerning the proceedings before the ICC remains. The foreign institution has no - as it never had - jurisdiction over the affairs of the Republic of the Philippines and its people,' Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo said, citing the country's withdrawal from the Rome Statute.
