I almost died when Jose and his brother mauled me. My concern is all my statements regarding the recollection of events leading to my injuries are being denied by them. I presented my medical certificate to support my complaint and I want them to also present their evidence to contradict the same but they refused. They claimed that there is no existing law which compels them to present their evidence. Are they correct?

The accused is presumed innocent in criminal cases. This is in consonance with Section 14, Article 3 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution which provides that:
