It's true what they say that when you get married, you marry the family. It's just a universal fact. You can never separate your better half from the family they came from because your better half was raised like them and by them. Moreover, in the Philippine context where love for family is held sacred, you don't "start a family" after exchanging "I do's." You just "continue" or "add on" to what has existed on both sides whose diverse characters - whether easy to love or easier to loathe - will always be part of your marriage at every turn.
And, oh. A note to millennials: This reality isn't a thing of the past in the slightest. No less than the day's winningest actress, Janine Guttierez - who also happens to be a modern and confident female role model - will show it when her much-awaited first teleserye for ABS-CBN, "Marry Me, Marry You," premieres Monday.
