LONDON: British inflation will spike this year because of the "persistent" pandemic while the economic recovery is flattening, Bank of England (BoE) governor Andrew Bailey warned on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila).

The BoE had forecast last month that the annual inflation rate would surge to 4 percent, double its target.
