All Filipinos can be heroes in their own small way especially during times of crisis, Vice President Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo said on Monday, as the country marked National Heroes Day.

"Kinikilala natin ang giting, sakripisyo, at kadakilaan hindi lang ng mga tanyag na bayani ng ating lahi, kundi pati ng napakaraming Pilipinong nag-alay ng buhay para sa bayan. Di man naitala ng kasaysayan ang kanilang pangalan at pinanggalingan, nabubuhay sa atin ang kanilang pinangarap at pinaghirapan: Isang bansang mas ligtas, mas malaya, mas makatao", Robredo said.
