BAGUIO CITY: Mayor Benjamin Magalong is keen on inviting Tourism Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat to visit the Irisan Eco-Park on September 2 for the latter to see the improvements done so far on the Summer Capital's former garbage dump site. Magalong expressed the possibility during the regular management committee meeting of local officials, August 24, at Baguio Convention Center. He said the last time Romulo-Puyat visited the area, it had not yet undergone major improvement and rehabilitation efforts spearheaded by the City Environment Parks and Management Office. Romulo-Puyat is expected to grace the 112th celebration of the city's Charter Day on September 1 with the theme, 'Moving Forward as One.' The mayor said he will also ask the tourism chief to help the city request King Louis Farms, a nationwide supplier of potted plants and cut flowers whose farms are located in Baguio and Benguet province, to support the ongoing development and beautification of the area. Romulo-Puyat is a frequent Baguio visitor whose late husband was a relative of the agricultural enterprise's owner, Vicente Puyat. The Irisan Eco-Park development project is in line with the mayor's three-year 15-point agenda towards good governance that includes revitalizing the environment.
