Sticking to evacuation deadline: Biden's leap of faith

US President Joe Biden has reached the point of no return in deciding to end evacuation operations at Kabul's international airport by August 31. He has stuck to his decision amid a crescendo of criticism that it was tantamount to abandoning thousands of Afghans who have served the US and its Western allies and who are now vulnerable to Taliban persecution.
