2 dead in Marikina hostage taking

AT least two prisoners from the Marikina City jail were slain in a shootout with police during a hostage taking incident on Thursday, an official said.

In a phone interview with The Manila Times, Col. Benliner Capili, officer-in-charge, did not disclose the identities of the fatalities but described them as 'rape inmates' who broke out from their cells.
