Duterte won't fire Duque but will accept voluntary resignation
PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday said he would accept an offer from Health Secretary Francisco Duque 3rd to resign but would 'never' fire him despite the controversy on 'deficiencies' in the use of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) funds by the Department of Health (DoH).
In his pre-recorded public address aired on Tuesday night, Duterte said he would accept Duque's resignation if he would offer it 'voluntarily' but asking him to step down 'will never happen'.
