PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte called on the Filipino people to emulate the "selflessness" of the late senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino by sacrificing personal interests for the common good as the country commemorates his 38th death anniversary on Saturday.

In his message, Duterte honored Aquino, who was assassinated at the tarmac of the then Manila International Airport on Aug. 21, 1983.
