'Beauty Queen' - an 18-minute short film on the life of Remedios Gomez-Paraiso, better known as Kumander Liwayway of the Huk Rebellion - clinched Best Film at the 2021 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival virtual awards program on Thursday.

Starring Febie Agustin, Lau Apostol, Norman King and Bajun Lacap, Beauty Queen received the prestigious Balanghai Trophy, a P150,000-cash prize, DJI Mini 2 Drone Fly More Combo and DJI Osmo Mobile 4, and complete color-grading services worth P240,000 courtesy of Optima Digital.
