Lung Center, National Kidney Institute field hospitals near full capacity

AMID a surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in Metro Manila, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said that Emergency Field Hospitals (EFH) at the Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP) and National Kidney Transplant Institute (NKTI) are nearing full capacity.

In a statement, the PRC said that the LCP and NKTI emergency field hospitals have 100 and 20 bed capacity respectively.

The facilities serve as an extension to help in the increasing demand for beds, and to allow admission of more severe Covid-19 cases inside hospitals.

Meanwhile, PRC Chairman Sen. Richard Gordon said that the PRC is ready to deploy more medical tents and emergency field hospitals should the need arise.

On Monday, August 9, the National Capital Region logged 2,406 new Covid-19 cases bringing the total active cases to 20,470
