Two teams from the Ateneo de Manila University made history at the 2021 World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) as the first Filipino participants from the same university to make it to the finals and be named among best speakers in the global competition.

Ateneo 1, composed of Mikko Vitug and Ignacio Villareal, and Ateneo 2, with David Africa and Luigi Alcañeses, were not able to win the title but they were the first two teams in Philippine history to reach the finals of the prestigious WUDC from the same institution, with all four of them placing in the top 10 of the Best Open Speaker list
