WASHINGTON, D.C.: Joey Jordison, the co-founder of Slipknot and one of the most influential metal drummers of his generation, has died at the age of 46, his family announced.

'We are heartbroken to share the news that Joey Jordison, prolific drummer, musician and artist passed away peacefully in his sleep,' his family said Tuesday in a statement carried by Rolling Stone and multiple US media outlets.
