Magnitude 6.7 rocks Batangas – Phivolcs

A magnitude 6.7 earthquake jolted Batangas province early Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The epicenter of the quake, which struck at 4:49 a.m., was 16 kilometers southwest of the town of Calatagan, according to Phivolcs. An aftershock with a magnitude of 5.1 was recorded at 4:57 a.m.

The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 116 kilometers.

There were no immediate reports of damage.
