OUT of the 10 medals (3 silvers, 7 bronzes) the Philippines has won in the Olympics, five have come from amateur boxing.
Bantamweight Jose Villanueva gave the country its first Olympic medal in boxing when he bagged the bronze medal in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. Villanueva secured the medal after beating American Joseph Lang for third place.
