TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte: Seven-hundred employees and workers from different private business establishments in this city received their first dose of vaccines during vaccination activities held at the Leyte Progressive High School gym here on Wednesday. Jerry Uy, legal counsel of the Tacloban Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the vaccines inoculated on the employees and workers had been purchased by their group through the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Manila. Uy, a former councilor of Tacloban City, said the health workers of the City Health Office of Tacloban administered the vaccination shots during the whole-day activity. He added that their chamber purchased the vaccines at their expense as their contribution to augment the vaccine supply of the government and to prioritize their employees in order that they be protected from Covid-19. Uy appealed to other local businessmen that they could no longer accommodate those not listed on their priority list as names of those to be vaccinated have to be submitted to the City Health Office where they will be given vaccination cards. He said their chamber chapters in Samar and Northern Samar will also conduct their vaccination activities in coordination with their respective local government units. N
