Israel discusses peace, unity with Turkey

TEL AVIV: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke to his new Israeli counterpart Isaac Herzog on Monday, the Turkish presidency said, in rare telephone talks between the two countries whose relations are strained.

The call comes after Erdoğan, a vocal champion of the Palestinian cause during his 18-year rule, held talks on Saturday with Palestinian Authority President Mahmud Abbas.
