Ilocos farmer yields 14 MT/ha

A FARMER from San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte harvested 14.3 metric tons per hectare (MT/ha) of palay (unmilled rice) in the dry season, thanks to the SL-8H rice variety developed by the country's leading hybrid rice producer SL Agritech Corp.

George Pasion Jr. and his father from Barangay San Marcos, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte were among the first farmers in the province to use this resilient hybrid rice variety, which enabled them to have all-year round cropping.
