South China Sea ruling gets global backing

THE United States, European Union and Canada reaffirmed their support to the 2016 international arbitral ruling, which upheld the Philippines' territorial claims in the South China Sea.

The Philippines commemorated on Monday the fifth anniversary of a ruling of the Permanent Court of Arbitration that invalidated China's claim over areas within the Philippines' exclusive economic zone.
