'Gloves' that give voice to deaf, speech-impaired

A group of electrical engineering students in Camarines Sur has invented trainable gloves that can interpret Filipino Sign Language (FSL) and convert it into speech.

Graduating students Francis Anthony de Guzman, Rency de la Cruz, Klenn Arvin Alcibor, Joana Renz Jimenez and Andrea Moran of the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges said the project is part of a study that aims to give voice to deaf and speech-impaired individuals using a mechanism that combines artificial intelligence (AI) and microcontrollers.
