AMULUNG, Cagayan: A business supervisor was killed after his SUV was allegedly rammed by a speeding 18-wheeled truck along the national road in Sitio Bobogan, Barangay Babayuan here, on Thursday at past two o' clock in the afternoon, police and rescuers said. The fatality, Mario Usal, of Macanaya, Aparri, Cagayan, was brought to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center in this city by Rescue 47 members but was declared dead on arrival. Cpt. Llewilyn Guzman, Amulung police chief, said Usal, a 60-year-old supervisor of a private trading firm in Aparri town, was aboard his Conquest sports utility van when he allegedly tried to overtake another car but instead smashed into the speeding truck owned by the Synergy Logistics Prime Inc. in Camalaniugan, Cagayan. The accident caused heavy traffic along the Babayuan-Anquiray national road in Amulung town, rescuers said. The 30-year-old truck driver, Marwin Bareto, was brought to the Amulung Police Station for investigation. A case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property has been readied against the driver.
