THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Monday cautioned the public especially those living near the Taal Volcano Island (TVI) following a volcanic smog over its large crater that reached as high as three kilometers above.

This was the result of the continued volcanic sulfur dioxide gas emission from the main crater of Taal Volcano, Phivolcs chief Renato Solidum told The Manila Times.
