THE Philippines posted 6,812 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Friday, according to the Department of Health (DoH), increasing the number of infections to 55,293.The total caseload has reached 1.385 million, of which 1.306 million have recovered from the virus, including 2,867 new survivors.The positivity rate across the country is at 11.6 percent, or 5,917 samples were found positive out of the 51,005 tests conducted by all laboratories.The death toll is at 24,152, with the addition of 116 new fatalities, 61 of which were previously reported as recovered.Occupancy rate in intensive care units for Covid-19 patients in Metro Manila is at 42 percent and 57 percent nationwide.
