I have always been a fan of Warren Buffet. Buffet has been proclaimed as one of the world's most celebrated investor, having bought a textile firm Berkshire Hathaway's share for $7.50 each in 1962 and transforming it into a conglomerate worth $645 billion today (at around $270,000 per share). The stock has enjoyed a compounded annual growth rate of 20 percent, double that of the S&P 500 index (including dividends). Most modern finance textbooks today proclaim it is exceedingly difficult to beat the market, but Buffet has done so consistently over the decades.
A brief preview of his background adds to the amazing accomplishment. He made his first investment at the age of 11. In his youth, he made money delivering newspapers, more than his teacher's pay. He had his share of challenges, including being rejected by the Harvard Business School. Buffet lived in a house he brought in 1956 and he knows the value of money. He has given away billions to charity. His net worth is greater than the gross domestic product of small countries today.
