THE Philippines has received another 2 million doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines from China's Sinovac on Thursday, June 24.
The latest shipment arrived via Cebu Pacific flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The 1.6 million doses of the vaccines are part of the 25 million Sinovac doses procured by the national government while the 400,000 doses are part of the vaccines procured by the city government of Manila.
Health Secretary Fransisco Duque 3rd, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. and Manila Mayor Francisco 'Isko Moreno' Domagoso, among others, welcomed the arrival of the vaccines.
As of June 24, the country has received a total of 15,805,870 vaccines.
The government is expecting this month the arrival of 250,000 doses from Moderna and 2,028,000 from AstraZeneca from the COVAX facility.
The country is also expecting the arrival of vaccines to be donated by the United States before the month ends.
Galvez also said the government expects to receive 11,670,000 doses in July from Sinovac, Moderna and from the COVAX facility.
