World Oceans Day 2021 was celebrated last June 8 with the theme "The Ocean: Life and Livelihoods." The event, hosted by the United Nations Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea, Office of Legal Affairs, in partnership with Oceanic Global, was held to draw attention to the important role of the ocean in our lives.
This year's World Oceans Day, the second fully virtual celebration of the event, featured 40 thought-leaders, celebrities, institutional partners, community voices, entrepreneurs, and cross-industry experts.
