THE Philippines logged 6,959 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Saturday, according to the Department of Health (DoH).This puts the total caseload to 1.353 million, where 4.4 percent or 59,439 are active cases.Of the 50, 104 tests that were conducted by DoH-designated laboratories, only 11.5 percent or 5,762 yielded positive results.Six laboratories were unable to submit their data.The DoH said there were 9,407 recoveries recorded, raising the overall count to 1.270 million.The death toll is at 23, 538, including 153 new fatalities.
