I WROTE last week in detail about how LBC Express halted a child's economic initiative and dampened his spirits to continue with his venture. I concluded that LBC Express did not only thwart the efforts of that youngster but robbed him of his earnings.Anyway, some readers have sent their reactions to me and lambasted LBC Express as well for its lousy customer service. Pissed consumer A reader mentioned a 'pissed consumer' website so I searched for it. PissedConsumer.com (www.pissedconsumer.com) is owned and operated by Consumer Opinion LLC and has been 'a leading consumer advocacy and review platform by the people and for the people' since 2006. It's an online platform where ordinary consumers can vent their ire against those at the other end of the consumer chain. Its mission is 'to protect free speech and fight for consumers' rights, in particular the right to be heard.' It believes that businesses should communicate with their customers, listen to their concerns and do their best to turn complainants into brand advocates. It gives ordinary people 'an opportunity to publicly share their consumer experiences, attract companies' attention, get their issues taken care of and learn more about various industries, companies and brands.'Complaints against LBC Express are not confined locally but extend worldwide. Here is what PissedConsumer.com says about LBC Express (https://lbc-express.pissedconsumer.com/review.html): 'LBC Express was first mentioned on PissedConsumer on Jun 08, 2010 and since then this brand received 3188 reviews. LBC Express ranks 167 out of 1,416 in the transportation and logistics category. The overall rating of the company is 1.5 and consumers are mostly dissatisfied. Recent recommendations regarding this business are as follows: 'NO never', 'Only for people with time to waste', 'Please improve you customer service', 'We wish a good service specially delivery', 'It takes forever'. Reviewers write the most about LBC Express Delivery Service and give it 1.6 stars out of 5.'Did I hear right? An overall rating of only 1.5 out of 5 stars? This is a mere 30 percent and considered a failing grade at that.A reader's Facebook postA certain 'Gigi' on Facebook took the time to write a lengthy and informative post. Here is her unedited posting in reaction to last week's column: 'God despises swindlers or those who practice estafa, and in the case of LBC was carried out by means of fraud and/or deceit. Alex must get paid 395 pesos + punitive or compensatory damages from LBC. Regrettably, this courier company has been pissing off consumers for a very long time, having garnered an overall customer service rating of 1.5.'It appears the lack of good/proper ethics and conduct is the NORM for this company established by 2nd generation Araneta sons. The family-owned business expanded from brokerage firm to a third-party shipping provider and in 1973 to include 24-hour overnight delivery services domestically but eventually branched out to USA. In 1985, the company introduced the Balikbayan Box and money remittances service for OFW. An insulting company tagline 'Hari ng Padala' is almost vomit-inducing given the company's modus operandi is deceit and fraud.'Here are 3 extracts of consumer complaints from Pissed Consumer Network: 1) On April 26, 2021 a Canadian who used the courier service had a very bad experience with LBC teller. His complaint, 'Bad attitude of teller. It's not my first [time] to encounter this female staff at 4500 Sheppard Ave E Scarborough ON M1S 3R6 Canada.'; 2) Another customer from Reno, Nevada writes, 'My complaint is, we send money from Reno Nevada but there is no money to be paid in the Philippines. THIS IS BAD BUSINESS.'; 3) Locally someone from Dumaguete carps, 'An Employee of LBC Robinsons Dumaguete Branch and before assigned also at LBC JFT Branch. No proper training or doesn't have a code of ethics. She's so rude to the customers. She doesn't assist well the customers and even murmuring and insulting the customers in front of others. I hope you will look into this matter [be]cause it doesn't happened [once] only. It's in her attitude.''There are thousands of disgruntled customers of LBC venting their real complaints in Pissed Consumer website. Pissed Consumer is an advocacy forum or platform giving opportunity to publicly share their consumer experiences, attract companies' attention, get their issues taken care of and in some instances, to educate the users on the subject of consumer class actions and help them get the justice they deserve. I personally believe is high time for consumers who have been victimized (repeatedly) by LBC to convene and launch a class action lawsuit in order to seek compensation on behalf of all class members. There is a higher judicial efficiency and lower litigation costs in a class suit. After all, there's a well-known precept about doing nothing - it is NOT only sowing dangerous seeds, but also becoming partakers of the evil practice and allowing evil to triumph. [o quote] Edmund Burke's words about frustrating evil practice to prevail, 'All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.' As mentioned early on, God despises practitioners of estafa or commonly called the swindlers. In Paul's first epistle to the Church at Corinth, chapter 6, verse 10, he writes, 'No thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.' LBC, its staff and the like will not be extant in the Messianic age which is known as consummate Kingdom of God.'Thank you so much Gigi for this enlightening and inspiring piece.LBC mgmt does not careNow, I don't wonder why LBC's staff act the way they do - rude, without compassion, unreasonable and much more. This is because LBC Express management does not care in the first place. Consumer complaints remain unanswered. Their customer care email (customercare@lbcexpress.com) is nothing but a repository of grievances, which eventually are destined to the trash bin. Please continue sending your comments to allinsight.manilatimes@gmail.com.
