JBC bares 9 nominees for Supreme Court associate justice

THE Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has named 9 nominees for the post of associate justice of the Supreme Court (SC) that was left vacant following the appointment of Alexander G. Gesmundo as chief justice last April.

The seven-member JBC, concurrently chaired by Gesmundo, nominated Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo M. Cabotaje-Tang, Ateneo de Manila law school Dean Sedfrey M. Candelaria, Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justices Ramon A. Cruz, Japar B. Dimaampao, and Maria Filomena D. Singh; Sandiganbayan Associate Justices Geraldine Faith A. Econg and Rafael R. Lagos; Court Administrator Midas P. Marquez and Court Deputy Court Administrator Raul Villanueva.
