Negros holds province-wide vaccination

Thirty-one local government units in Negros Occidental will hold a two-day simultaneous vaccination on Thursday and Friday, said lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator. Mayors agreed to this during their meeting with Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson. 'Last time it was relaxed a little bit. Last time we allowed our LGUs (local government units) to take their time, convince and educate people to be vaccinated, but now the national government is giving regular doses of vaccines to the province. We cannot go full step behind in the vaccination schedule and program of the national government,' said Diaz. The province received 13,000 doses of Sinovac to be given to Category A1 to A3. 'We set a schedule for every LGU to prepare their vaccination venue, vaccination team and their respective vaccines, have it uploaded to the Department of Health and give us the list. On the day of the vaccination, ambulances will be assigned to deliver the vaccine to the LGUs. We will also assign a nurse to oversee the vaccination program scheduled for the day. When the ambulance with the vaccines arrives and the LGUs have not made the preparations, the vaccines will not be released,' Diaz said.
