The Philippines has successfully stopped the local outbreak of the highly-contagious polio disease almost two years after the first case was reported in 2019. according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe, country representative of the WHO, said the closure of the polio outbreak in the country comes amid the ongoing challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
