THE Sandiganbayan acquitted former Makati mayor Elenita Binay of graft in connection with the procurement of hospital beds and bedside cabinets for the Ospital ng Makati in 2001.
In a decision promulgated on Thursday, the court acquitted Binay, Ernesto Aspillaga, Dulce Cruz, and Luz Yamane-Garcia of the charge of violation of Section 3(e) of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act "for failure of the prosecution to prove their guilt beyond reasonable doubt."
