THE number of unemployed Filipinos went up to 4.14 million in April from 3.44 million in March due to the imposition of stricter quarantine restrictions, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said.

In a briefing on Tuesday, National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa said that based on the latest Labor Force Survey (LFS), the number of out-of-work individuals translates to an unemployment rate of 8.7 percent, up from the 7.1 percent recorded a month earlier.
