THE World Health Organization (WHO) believes that there has been a large-scale spread of the Alpha and Beta variants of Covid-19 in the country based on the genome sequencing reports by the Department of Health.
Based on the last genome sequencing report on May 26, the country has reported nearly 2,500 variant cases, with 1,246 of them having the Beta variant, or the variant that was first discovered in South Africa, while 1,071 had the Alpha variant that was first detected in the United Kingdom.
