Often, during rainy season, residents of Candaba, Pampanga, particularly those from Barangay San Agustin, are temporarily housed in the municipality's trade center, which serves as a makeshift evacuation center for locals.

The constant fear during such times is the possibility that small children might be swept away by raging flood since the place is a catch basin of floodwater from nearby communities during typhoons. Many have used bamboo stilts to elevate their wooden houses to avoid being inundated, and they have small bancas too, which they use whenever they need to evacuate.
