Traffic aide falls in Davao buy-bust

DAVAO CITY: A traffic enforcer was arrested in an anti-narcotics operation over the weekend at Matina Crossing here. DJan Labor Escoton, 42, City Traffic and Transport Management Office personnel, was arrested after he reportedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police undercover agent, a report from the Davao City Police Office said. Talomo Chief of Police Maj. Sean Logronio said the suspect is listed as a high-value target on the government drug watchlist. Authorities recovered from the suspect a gram of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P14,000, P2,000 buy-bust money and a cellular phone. Logronio said the arrest of the suspect should serve as a stern warning to those who are involved in the illegal drug trade. 'They are not welcome in our community and I appeal to anyone who holds information on anyone who is still engaged in drug selling to get in touch with us immediately,' he added. The suspect and the seized items are in the custody of Talomo Police Station. Cases for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against Escoton.
