PH logs 5,257 new Covid-19 cases

THE Philippines logged 5,257 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) while 6,266 have recovered, the Department of Health (DoH) said on Wednesday.

The new infections pushed the total to 1.2 million, where 52,132, or 4.2 percent, are active cases 1.167 million, or 94.1 percent, are recoveries.

Deaths have also risen to 21,158, with the addition of 146 new fatalities, 86 of whom were previously tagged as recoveries.

A total of 37,822 tests were conducted, with 12.8 percent returning positive. Three laboratories were not able to submit data to the DoH on May 31.

National intensive care unit (ICU) capacity is at 57 percent occupancy, while isolation beds are 48 percent occupied, while ward beds are 50 percent occupied as well.

In Metro Manila, ICU capacity is at 57 percent occupancy, while isolation and ward beds are 41 and 37 percent occupied respectively.
