Filipino golfer Juvic Pagunsan ruled the Gate Way To The Open Mizuno Open t the JFE Setonaikai Golf Club on Sunday in Okayama, as he seized his first Japan Tour Title.
The 43-year-old golfer from Bacolod carded a 4-under-par 68 in the final round for a total of 17-under 199 in the tournament.
With the championship, Pagusan, who placed second in the Asia Pacific Diamond Cup Golf in Kanagawa two weeks ago, bagged the ¥12,000,000 prize or around P5.2 million.
Pagunsan, who only used 11 clubs in his bag in the tournament as caddies were only allowed to ride carts as a Covid-19 pandemic health protocol, also earned a ticket to this year's British Open slated from July 15-18 at Royal St. George's Golf Course in Sandwich, Kent, England.
Japanese Ryutaro Nagano shot a closing 66 for a 14-under 202, as he finished second to Pagunsan to win ¥6,000,000 or P2.6 million.
Two other Japanese golfers in Ryuichi Oiwa and Katsumasa Miyamoto shared the third place, with the former scoring 68 in the final round and the latter carding 70.
Oiwa and Miyamoto pocketed ¥3,480,000 or 1.5 million each.
